The Story of My Temporary Vegetable Dye Tattoo

Temporary Vegetable Dye Tattoo + Tattoos

During one of my yearly visits to Belgrade, {which no longer happen that often since I've had my little ones} , I got my first tattoo. My moms friend, who specializes in cosmetic tattoos, did it for me. It was done like a 'regular' tattoo, except that vegetable dye was used, which depending on the exact type of dye used and amount of reapplication, can last anywhere from a few months to years.

Temporary Vegetable Dye Tattoo

I've had mine for over ten years now and while it's still visible, it's no longer as defined and dark, with some spots actually completed faded. I feel like it's going through this awkward stage of fading. While I knew it was going to fade with time, I guess I didn't processed how it was going to fade, and realize that it wouldn't just disappear evenly at the same pace.

I sometimes go through moments thinking about getting another one. But I don't know exactly what I want or where I want it...and so I know, I'm not actually ready for another one... just yet ;)

  1. I had no idea vegetable dye was a tattooing option! I got my first ink when I was 18... and since then, I've gotten 7 more. I'm kind of addicted...

  6. I have 2 tats and would like one more but I'm not sure where to put it. I didn't realize veggie ink was an option.

  7. I love it! Its the perfect size to suit that spot. Great location.. i always said id get my 2nd on my foot but I like the look of yours!!!

My tattoo was black when I was 14.. now its fading too and is blueish. I dont even see it as a tattoo.. more like a birthmark. Its part of me now id miss it if it vanished!

  8. This is soo cool. I've always said that I want a tattoo (something super simple) but one that would fade away in 10 years or so. I had NO idea this was an option!

  10. I have never heard of this before! Seriously, people considering tattoos should look into this first (I'm thinking of my high school students in particular). Permanent is a long time!

  13. You can always get your tattoo touched up, then it will look pretty and more defined! It's not expensive either. I have five tattoos, but I don't think I'll get many (if any) more. I like them to accent my body not cover it up.

  15. Aw it's so cute! Do you want it to go away? Will you retouch it if it gets too faded?
