A Royal Blue Engagement

Hidden Pocket Royal Blue Mini Dress + Black Tights + Ralph Lauren Heels

I've had this dress for years, and I've worn in only two times, including yesterday. I initially got it solely because I thought it was the most fantastic royal blue color. And, of course I loved the hidden pockets. I was never completely thrilled with the lower hanging bubble sleeves, and ultimately I want to remove them.

Clearly this dress is not practical to wear, especially for a mom of an almost 2 year old and a 4 year old. {Basically, moms of children who, at times, are carried}. Truth be told, I'm glad it was as dark out as it was last night, when I put my daughter in her car seat, because for sure the dress is a challenge to keep in place.

I don't have a problem with mini dresses or skirts, I always say 'wear what you feel comfortable and confident in'. However, this dress does comes borderline too close of causing wardrobe malfunction worry. And so, removing a level of comfort. The dress definitely walks a fine line, for me, of almost too short, and I would never even attempt to pull it off without dark tights.

Trying to come up with a not so boring title, for this almost outfit post, I kept thinking of the similarity in color of Kate Middleton's royal blue engagement dress, so hence the title ;)

  1. I love it!! Looking great hon! You have the legs to pull it off so at least from a visual angle you look 100% fab. But comfort is important too!

I know what you mean about borderline dresses.. I have a navy blue dress I had shortened (my mothers stupid suggestion) and now whenever I wear it I can not raise my arms up past my waist or it rises and my bridget jones pants are exposed. Not good!!!!! xx

    ps. got blackcurrant oil capsules!!

  2. My sentiments exactly about hemlines. I actually like mine at the knee because with all the sitting and standing throughout the day riding up too high is inevitable. If it starts at the knee it's the perfect length for everything else.

I love the dress on you and think the tights are a great addition also.

  6. You look great in it! Isn't it great how dark tights help make shorter things more wearable? I have a red mini skirt I only wear with black leggings because then it doesn't seem as riske.
