I've debated this with so many people. I try to just bottle my own filtered water into my reusable sigg bottle. Sometimes though when I am stuck without my bottle, I have no choice but to buy bottled. Thanks for sharing - this is a great topic! xx
Thank you for this! This summer I switched to a Calgene water bottle and I loved it! It was so handy. Utah is one of the greenest places ever and it really encouraged me to be greener when I danced there this summer. On the website for the University's Dance classes it said, "only water is allowed in studios, however we encourage you to have your own water container and refrain from buying bottled water." Pretty neat, huh?
Great article! I used to have a well in my garden in Kovacevac.. there was an incident where i almost fell in but still nothing beats fresh, cold water.. bottled stuff tastes a tiny bit plasticky to me. Unfortunately we have a problem with our pipes in london. The water is always warm so its not drinkable.. however in croatia.. you can even drink the shower water lol.. and as the hot water loooves to cut out on me there mid shower I often do!
Iva I was totally going to send you an email on this very thing. We're losing the plastic bottles and contemplating only glass, but it's so expensive. Can't deal with the unknown of what that plastic could be doing for us healthwise, as well as to the environment. Filters here I come.
Where I live now it's impossible to drink tap water, so for now i'm still depending on bottles. I plan to have a depurator in hte next few months and we''ll see how that will work out. When I was in Milan tap water was good, and I never drank anything else.
Hi Iva - LOVE this post - thanks so much for taking the time to share - I've been doing the thermos/filtered tap water thing for a long time & can't recommend it enough! :)
Great post... I really need to invest in a stainless steel thermos. It just seems easier to buy a pack of bottled waters and grab one on the go, but a couple seconds more I will help the environment out. I just need to stop being lazy!
Ah- a thermos! Great idea. i don't buy bottled water regulary - I just get a bottle every 6 weeks than refill from the tap until it falls apart but a thermos means I can cut out the bottle altogether. Thanks!
We're not big consumers of bottled water here in UK but i am fill & go girl anyway! I hadn't realised some of those stats, thanks for posting this hon xxx
This is all so true! It's amazing how many bottles of water are used every year in the US. I have a Brita filter for my tap water and I use Nalgene bottles (the BPA-free kind) to hold my water. It's certainly made a big difference in what I spend, and I'm sure it's helped the environment too.
Uh oh... we could but don't drink tap water; always Volvic at home. But we only buy the big bottles... so that's less bad, I hope?! If I'm taking water with me I use sigg bottles. Lots of great advice here! I'm your newest follower, looking forward to reading more!
