Imagine being able to give some of your 'old' clothes and coming home with an equal value in 'new to you' clothes. You can do this at the Give + Take Swap Boutique in LA. The
basic concept is that you give $100 jeans and then you can take a dress of a $100 value. Its an equal exchange based on a point system, which you can keep as 'store credit'. If you don't see something you like while you are there, you can always come back and apply your points then. The boutique accepts a variety of designers, and clothing needs to be "freshly laundered, on hangers preferred or neatly folded", maintaining an equal quality of pieces and brands throughout the boutique.
The Give+ Take Swap Boutique is a great way to add 'new' pieces to your wardrobe and live green, while sharing some of your clothes which you no long wear!

Why's it gotta be in LA though? Everyone knows that anything good is in the bay, just sayin...

ReplyDeletethere is a chain of stores called the buffalo exchange that run on the exact same concept...they take your old lightly worn clothes and price them depending on brand, style, demand, etc and you can either get store credit or a smaller cash payout. they are also happy to keep the clothes that they don't accept and send them over to good will for you! www.buffaloexchange.com

ReplyDeleteHi Ladies,
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the wonderful compliments!
I'm to owner of Give + Take and I did want to clarify that we are NOTHING like Buffalo Exchange. Which is what makes us revolutionary.
At ordinary second hand places you only receive roughly 15-20% of your original purchase price value (even if you opt to "trade")for each single item. So if you bring in a perfect condition dress that cost you $100 you get only a maximum of $20 for it. At Give + Take, you can trade that dress for another dress that cost $100 dollars--retaining the full replacement value for your clothing. You only spend the monthly membership fee, so if you trade multiple items you are literally saving hundreds and hundreds of dollars over a traditional model.
As far as I know, we are the only of its kind in the world. If anyone knows otherwise, I'd love to know!
If you come to Los Angeles remember to pack your bags and come swap!
I don't know how I missed this when you posted it, but I am SO going there!
ReplyDeleteok im glad the owner cleared hat up bc i was wondering how it was different from buffalo or crossroads. i think im going to try it in june and will post about my experience!
