Nip The Mid-Day Slump!

If you're feeling restless, tired, and maybe a bit moody, or just all around blah at certain times throughout the day, you might be a victim of low blood sugar, my friend.

Here are some ways to avoid snapping, and instead, maintain your composure and grace:

Chew On This:
Eats foods that your body will absorb slowly, keeping your blood sugar steady...and mood ;) Quality carbs mixed with high proteins is your best bet. Things like whole-grains, almond milk, peanut butter and quinoa will keep you on an even playing field!

Avoid The White Stuff: Sugar, white bread, or anything containing refined sugar will be absorbed by your system quickly, sending your blood sugar levels into overdrive. But, this sugar high does not last long, and soon after you'll experience a crash, that can leave you short tempered and hungry, and more likely to grab something unhealthy. Which will lead to round two of a sugar crash...and so on and so forth the cycle continues.

Snack Attack: Keep your snacks around 100 calories. Grab cheeses and other dairy products, veggies, fruits, nuts and seeds. Keep in mind, that it takes up to 20 minutes for your body to register that it isn't hungry anymore. So hang of a few more minutes by distracting yourself {read some blogs!} before grabbing for more food.

Happy Wednesday Friends!

36 Fabulous People:

  20. I also read recently that dehydration causes hunger. So when you go to bed dehydrated you're more likely to wake up hungry. Sugar is a big culprit in causes dehydration. Therefore sugar=hunger. Horrible cycle, isn't it?
