Old Is The New, New.

{from google}

My closet is packed to its fullest capacity... to the point that you want to walk-in with caution. You just never know when shelves might start to give out..hardhat required ;) But some days, I just stand in there, dumbfounded thinking "I have nothing to wear, nothing" {generally on the days when I feel rushed}, and I feel like I am looking at something like this:

Which is just ridiculously absurd. So today, I am going back into the garage and unboxing things I tagged as pieces I will most likely not wear again. Maybe, I can figure out a new way, to wear the old.

33 Fabulous People:

  1. i try to get creative with my old pieces (take them to get hemmed, cut, turned into something else) or layer them up in unexpected ways. or you could send the stuff you don't want to a friend in ga? (hint hint) hehe.

  4. My goodness! I know! I just cleaned out my whole closet. I am now SHOPPING my closet. I was just telling my husband that this am. I wore a dress that I got in the summer and paired it with tights and a long sleeve shirt and voila!

  7. I wish my closet looked like the picture above! Roomy! What I wouldn't give for roomy. Cramped seems to be the order of the day over at Castle'd'la'HeatherLynn. *sighs*....I think it's cutting edge that my clothes are sorted by color....and I have a shoe rack.

But I do love when I take clothes out of circulation, only to get the back out...yeah, it's like hey, *looks lovingly at my navy thick woven American Eagle Sweater with the cuffed sleeves*....and say "I remember you"...*hugs sweater".."Oh, sweater, I've missed yOU!"

It's oh so dramatic over here! lol

  9. I know what you mean! It's hard giving up clothes. I want a walk-in closet to feed my shopping addiction even more :). I just posted a picture of Carrie from Sex and the City's closet yesterday on my blog www.lifeaftercollege3.blogspot.com

  17. I so know the feeling Iva... the change of seasons always throws my wardrobe into a small tailspin. I like your idea of turning old into new, but my problem is that more often than not I giveaway what I think I don't want anymore... :^(

  19. I quit smoking and gained enough weight so NOTHING fits me anymore, I can totally relate. Might have to box up all my clothes, stick them in boxes labels "skinny smoky clothes" and head to the fat farm.

  20. Oh me oh my, that closet is amazing!! Mine resembles nothing like it, HA!

  21. I've been going through this lately. I've been forcing myself to take an item I haven't work in awhile and make it work - somehow. It's been pretty successful. It's amazing how many pairings you can come up for the old pieces.

  22. My closet is brimming - but a lot of it is just clothes I no longer wear but can't part with for some ridiculous reason - sentimantality usually - it's quite silly actually!

  23. Oh good idea! I have a small closet but about 45% of it is filled with things that I just don't wear anymore and so have been moved to the back corner. Maybe I'll rummage through that area once more to see if anything bites my interest.

  24. Awesome! And if you can't find a use for the old OR new, you can always donate it to someone else who can :)

  25. I feel that same exact way sometimes! It drives me crazy!

  26. I feel exactly the same and quite a lot too.

  27. I found that having all items in one closet helps a lot, in our last house I had something in all the closets cause the one in the master just wasn't big enough so I'd be going from room to room with the same thought. Last year for my bday hubs had my closet done, it helps a lot but now I feel overwhelmed...I wish every morning an outfit would just jump out at me so I wouldn't have to just stare for 5 minutes.
I'm pretty sure YOUR closet is beyond fabulous!
I hope you find some forgotten treasures in your boxes :)

  29. Sometimes I feel the same way and that I am a pack rat, I have a hard time parting with clothing even though I know I probably won't wear it again. Good luck with that, hope it goes well!
