Dove: Real Beauty

Hi Friends! Happy Friday. Thank you for making this week a bit easier to get through :) I hope you have a great weekend!

"The Dove Self-Esteem Fund (DSEF) was established as an agent of change to inspire and educate girls and young women about a wider definition of beauty. The DSEF is committed to help girls build positive self-esteem and a healthy body image ...The DSEF is part of the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty, a global effort designed to widen today's stereotypical view of beauty".

So, I know this might be opposite
from what we are used to
asking ourselves,
but lets give it a go :)

What is one thing about your body that you love?

For me, it is my stomach. Sure, there have been plenty of times I have looked at it and wished I could see far more of a resemblance to a six pack. But, it has also been wonderful to me, and my two babies.

49 Fabulous People:

  1. I did a group research report about this last year for a Psych class I was taking - I love this campaign, and the fact that you're bringing awareness to it!

Do eyes count as something to love about ones body? Okay, I love my shoulders - weird, I know; but I love how they look in tank tops and off-the-shoulder tees. :)

  2. Yes! The Real Beauty campaign was sooo amazing :) Yay for a positive body image. Hmm I like my stomach I suppose, all this running and a religious routine of medicine ball crunches and the like means it's something I can be proud of! Hope you're having a wonderful day dear :)

  6. freakin HIGH FIVE to dove for this campaign. i'm so over the airbrushing and fakeness that we see EVERYWHERE. i once was a victim of this distorted conception of beauty but i have learned over the years to appreciate myself as is. you're going to laugh but i love my wrists and my ears most. haha. don't ask.

I love what you picked (you are in fabulous shape) and your reason for why :)

I'd have to say my lips. I don't think I'll ever need the collagen and I do love to kiss S and can't wait to kiss my babies someday!

  14. aw wonderful self esteem boosting post, iva!

i love my smile/dimples, mostly because my boyf always tells me how much my "dimps" are his favorite haha, and also because smiling is the best way to get people to notice you and immediately brighten someone's day (unless they are a stiff, but hey everyone has their bad days)!

YOU are beautiful entirely, inside and out :D

  19. wow. this is fantastic!! thank you for posting.

the one thing is my big ole round bootay. my husband loves it. :)

  20. This really is a great campaign. So refreshing in comparison to a lot of advertisements that have picture perfect girls and eerily thin models. Sigh.

Hmm...what do I love about my body? I love my eyes. They're big and my thick, long eyelashes do not need mascara. I think that's pretty lucky on my part!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I love my eyes and butt (because the butt is what sealed the deal with my hubby, ha!).

Great post! Here's to loving ourselves for who we are...

    Happy weekend Iva!

  24. Great post, I love the Dove campaign, true beauty!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Aww, I like this post! I like my stomach as well. It stays pretty flat...for the most part. My eyes too, if those count :) I love this campaign. I wish I had more freckles on my face. I have them all over my body (Irish blood), but the ones on my face have disappeared over the years!

    ReplyDelete
  26. you should be proud of your amazing stomach! I can't think of anything I truly love about my physical appearance, but I would say my eyes are one of the things I love in some pictures!

    ReplyDelete
  27. you did this post for me huh. you're sick of my complaining . ok i get it i get it.
i like my uhh feet. they're narrow so they fit in almost every shoe.
    :)

  28. Oh girl, I needed this today. As I stood staring at myself in the mirror during ballet today, I kept whining in my head... "I wish my boobs were bigger, I wish my butt was rounder, I wish I were curvier instead of so athletic and gangly..." Such destructive thinking!

    SO!

I love my shoulders, arms and upper back - they're cut, but not in a scary body builder way - just enough to show the world that I'm active. And I love showing them off in tanks and sleeveless tops. I also love my height. Give me a pair of heels and I can rock 6 feet.

    ReplyDelete
  29. i love this campaign!! and how fun! i suppose my favorite would be my legs...they're fierce!! lol! thanks for lightening my mood :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. I also enjoyed this campaign and relish REAL beauty...I'm not giving in to the plastic surgery/botox trend ever!

I love my eyes, full lips and hair best, but many compliment my breasts and legs, so I'll throw those in there too.

    xxx

  31. I love this campaign, and any celebration of real beauty. Too often we're all too hard on ourselves! I like my stomach (esp. when I work hard to make it look good!) and my smile.

I just found your blog, and I love it!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I just found you on 20 something bloggers!
I love the Dove Real Beauty Ads! My favorite feature of mine is my eyes, they are brown, but I think they are so beautiful. And I can say nothing and my eyes will tell you everything. Sometimes that is bad... like when someone gives me an awful Birthday gift (LOL) but mostly is it apart of my charm! :D

    ReplyDelete
  33. That's so sweet Iva! For me it's my mouth. I have decent lips :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. I also love the Dove beauty campaign! I love my eyes - that's my fave part.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I loved this dove campaign, it is so needed. Favorite body part...i think its my legs. They have lots of scars, but those scars just show that i've lived!

    ReplyDelete
  36. As much as I complain about my height (5'10"), I do appreciate it as something that makes me different from everyone else. But, you know, I really wish I fit in my dorm bed.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Very inspirational campaign!

    ReplyDelete
  38. This was a nice post to read, and I enjoyed the comments as well because girls should be thinking that way! I'm going to say my height-- I'm a comfy 5 ft 8 and I always wanted to be tall when I was little. So that's fun :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. I loved this campaign as well! I love my hair and my smile. BUT, I didn't used to. I fought with my hair for a long time as a teen because it's naturally curly and I would always straighten it....now I realize lots of girls get perms / use rollers just so they can have hair like I have naturally. And, I have a nice smile, but it is definitely thanks to braces and jaw surgery too!! I have to thank my parents for giving me the nice smile I have today

  40. Wow, this is an inspring post. I heard Dove had a campaign targeted towards young girls, but I didn't know the complete details.

Hmmm? As for my favorite thing on my body? My skin! I had my first zit when I was 18, and I can count on my ten fingers the number of zits I've had since then! As for everything else...:P LOL

    ReplyDelete
  41. What a great idea! My favorite is probably my legs.

  42. this is a beautiful post. i love dove's campaign.

    ..i love my shoulders.

  45. I love the dove campaign, they are doing wonderful things. I like my face and hair the best, great post love!

  46. Hey VERY cool post! The Dove campaign is awesome...I loved that video of how they transformed that normal girl into a supermodel...a nice reminder that the media doesn't necessarily depict women as they ARE.

Anyway, my favorite feature are my eyes. Thank you for asking! :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. What I find most interesting about that campaign poster is that even thought they are talking about different types of beauty, they left out black women with Afro's...I've got the stupid curly hair and it would be nice to see a black woman with an afro in that picture...

  48. hi, new reader here. easy question, hard answer. i love my ass. why? i love my ass bec. everyone loves my ass and tells me it's a fine one. so, the answer is telling. it's not even about me. hmmm.

maybe truthfully, i like my collarbone better, but i have forgotten to think about that for a while.
i like my feet because they take me places.
cheers. thanks, i like your cute and simply style.
