Hairy Situations

Hi Friends! I hope you had a great weekend! Not to much over here on our end, pretty low key. Although, I did get my eyebrows done. It really does not take that long, nor do I find it a tremendous pain from the 'ouch' perspective. I do, however, find it a tremendous pain, from the highly annoying, why do I have to do this, YET AGAIN, perspective. Bleh. I find shaving even more irritating because of the whole 'hairy legs just aren't ok' outlook from society. Trust me, not that I would ever NOT shave my legs, because I'm definitely a fan of the not hairy look myself, at least for me personally speaking, to each is own. I am curious though, who decided that women were going to be the ones who fall in the not-hairy category and for men to fall in the hairy category. hmmm. I'm not a quitter. But, if there was ever something I would want to quit, shaving would be pretty high up on that list...of things I will never quit, but would love to.

Shaving

Waxing

Threading

Tweezing

Creams

Strips

Laser

Electrolysis

  1. That's a weird laser picture. I have my underarms and bikini done and it's not that clinical or scary looking ;-)

  2. I have so many opinions on this subject....I have tried lots of things...I am convinced that the only thing that ever truly eliminates hair is laser. From now on, that's what I am going to turn to because everything else seems to regrow.

  3. OMG, if I started to laser, I would become obsessed. I would also become the hairless wonder. Ugh. I hate body hair (on me). I seriously shave my legs everyday. I can't stand any amount of prickliness...it keeps me up at night. Hahaha. It's nice that my hair grows REALLY fast when I have a bad haircut, but for shaving/tweezing/waxing, not so much. Not to mention that I have fair skin and DARK hair :) Lovely.

  4. I wax, shave, and pluck.. have done electrolysis, but didnt want to keep up with it, laser sounds good but expensive, and im scared of threading!!! xxxoo

  5. I am with you on this one sister! I thread my eyebrows and wax where ever I see fit. And OUCH! is an understatement lol

  6. i don't mind shaving but that doesn't mean when winter rolls around i keep on doing it. oh hells no! i am all about taking advantage of the no-need-to-show-legs season. poor boyfriend. lol. i did permanent hair removal for my underarms and it was the best thing i ever did. so worth the bits of pain.

  7. I wax, shave and tweeze. It's just something that has to be done even though it's a pain in the butt!!!

    ReplyDelete
  8. ugh...shaving is a drag!! i try to shave almost every day though. i tweeze as well but that's just as annoying...haha!
i would wax but i'm scared!
permanent removal sounds amazing but yeah, makes me a little nervous too.
can you tell i don't haev a high pain tolerance ;)

  9. I def. get my eyebrows waxed, even though it hurts, I can't tweeze bc I'm a chicken haha

  10. girl i'm right there with you.in the summer i have to shave every day. {thanks dad for the hairy genes} then i attempt to get away with it in the winter... but having a boyfriend makes that a little difficult! hmm..i've heard of threading through these blogs.. ill have to look into that! hope you're having a great monday iva :) and im glad to hear your weekend wasnt too bad! xoxo!

  11. i forever have a grudge for waxing my brows, because i was/am a master at tweezing and had the PERFECT brows until i was lazy and decided to get them waxed before prom and they were UNEVEN :'( and since then they remain too thin and still uneven and i cry! lol.

too be honest i think all hair is a pain, from legs being the most obvious, but my most hated - the armpit! and even the hair on my head i threaten to shave off on bad days...oh the annoyances of being a woman!

  12. I haaaate shaving, just because I feel like I waste so much of my life doing it haha-- but I'm the same! Would never go hairy instead!! One day I'll win the lottery and just get laser hair removal :)

  13. Everyone I know would rather wax...but being me, I choose the easy way out and shave. I thread my eyebrows though! (and 'stach :$)

    ReplyDelete
  14. I agree Iva, the legs are what kill me to be honest... :)

  15. oh the never ending hair growth thing! bah! it is kind of a pain! especially since we are in a water shortage and i hear we are supposed to take 5 minute showers? who can shave and do all in the shower in 5 minutes! not me!!! NOT ME!!! i try to hurry and be done with it, but it is a pain! and not exactly optional for me as a brunette. MUST DO. :)

  16. When I can afford to someday (read: post college, lol), I will be lasering my underarms. That's my least favorite place to shave, but the place that needs it most often - hairy armpits are not okay for a dancer! :)

    xoxo J

  17. That laser gun (?) looks kinda scary!

  18. Sometimes I would rather wax my cha-cha than shave my legs. There might be something wrong with me. Yet, I keep on shaving the legs, because I am "supposed to."

  19. i'm actually a little lucky to not have much hair anywhere but my head. but i do wax and hope to get laser done soon.

  20. ow, ow, ow! I only shave... I'd rather have my guys beat me up on Tuesdays and Thursdays at my martial arts class than get a hot wax. :)

  21. I will never wax again ...too painful. I liked threading though. But I mostly shave ..it.all.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yep it pretty much blows but shaving is the least painful option for me, except when it comes to my crazy thick brows. Waxing is a necessity!

    ReplyDelete
  23. The entire brow ordeal is such a nuisance, but it is a must for us ladies, don't ya think?

Hairless is definitely better than hairy in my little female world!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I mainly do waxing and plucking. I hate hair, it is so annoying sometimes!!! Waxed eyebrows feel great though after you are done!

  25. Hehe, this is a fun post. I have to admit I hate the daily, weekly, and monthly upkeep that all women have to go through. Trying to keep my roots hidden by far takes the cake for me though, because every month I have to sit still for two hours to get it done! The things we go through ..... =P

  26. Tweezers for my eyebrows and an epilator for my legs/underarms...eek sorry, if TMI. I was so scared of the epilator at first, it spins so fast I was certain it would take a chunk of my leg...and possibly some hair. Now I don't know how I ever went without it!

    ReplyDelete
  27. i just got my eyebrows threaded and it was awesome! way more painful than waxing but it's lasting so long!!

if i could i would do electrolysis all over my body. hair yuck.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I hate hair!! I am not a fan of the hairy legs... but I am with you, I hate shaving!!! I recently did the laser hair removal on my lip, and it works wonders. I still have to go in for another treatment in a month or so, but I love it. I eventually am going to do my legs too - i hate shaving!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I would totally do laser if I were financially able to. But I'd laser everything..... Hahahah I never want to shave again!!

  30. The things we do for beauty! Definately got to shave and tweezers for the eyebrows.

    ReplyDelete
  31. threading creeps me out! i see the booth at the mall, and the quick little fingers going over womens eyebrows with what looks like floss... ew!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Shaving is not only annoying - it's downright dangerous. You rarely notice your razor is dull until you've sufficiently sliced your legs open. My most classy days are definitely the ones when I have to stick on a Hello Kitty Band-aid to cover my battle wound.

    ReplyDelete
  33. isn't it crazy how much money and effort women spend on getting rid of unwanted body hair? seriously! It's nuts. Not that I would want to stop plucking and/or shaving, it's just a necessary evil! *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  34. seriously!! i can't wait for winter to come so i can just let it grow for a few days! lol...

  35. I have so many opinions on this subject....I have tried lots of things...I am convinced that the only thing that ever truly eliminates hair is laser.

  36. I waxed my legs once...ouch! I will stick to shaving with a razor.

  37. that is a great question! why do WE shave our legs and pits? hmmmm.

    ReplyDelete
  38. i really want to try to threading b/c i heard it's a lot less painful on your face. i too hate shaving, but i love the feel of smooth legs. here's a another question, since you brought up gender roles...why do women wear make up? b and i were talking about this the other day. i just don't get it.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Ugh, I hate it! Seriously, can you imagine what the world could accomplish if women stopped wasting time removing unwanted hair? Such a pain.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I had my eyebrows threaded again over the weekend and it HURT! :( Luckily I am a natural blonde so I don't have to do it toooo often!

  41. Ok, so here I am climbing up onto my soapbox (sorry in advance):

We live in an androcentric society, were maleness is the norm and femaleness is the "other". Men are supposed to be strong and the protectors. Women are supposed to be vulnerable and protected.

By setting the societal image of beauty for women as hairless we are making women appear more child like and pre-pubescent. And by making women appear more child like, we are playing into the "women need protecting like children do".

Now I realize I have over simplified this argument, but it is a comment and not my own blog. I also cave to the pressure of society to be hairless.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog and comment! Hope you are having a great day!
