Makeup Gone Wrong

Hi Friends! I hope you had a great weekend. Sorry for no video today. Production is in the works, but the creative department got overwhelmed this weekend, so its been delayed. Annnyway... I use liquid eyeliner and my biggest makeup irritations is eyeliner that is not on symmetrically. Which sometimes happens to me, when there is an interruption in application. Like yesterday I was just about done with one eye and then 20 minutes later I got back to getting ready. The results: not so even. UGH.

Do you have any makeup pet peeves?

Cakey foundation/eyeshadow?
Tarantula eyelashes from clumpy mascara?
Dark lipliner paired with light lipstick?
Wrong foundation color for skintone?
Shaved eyebrows only to be drawn back on?

70 Fabulous People:

  1. Great Q!
I hate when ladies get that mascara goop in the inner corners of their eyes - ick!

  2. ooo mascara is the bane of my makeup existence. I just don't have normal eyelashes, I guess, because only 1 in every 20 mascaras works for me. I use a really light Neutrogena mascara now...

and the dark lipliner w/ light lipstick-- my pet peeve for others :) you almost want to take a picture and ask the person... "do you know that your lips look like this??"

  3. Clumpy eyelashes and WHITE eyeshadow. So NOT a winning combination.

Oh, and 90's metallic lipstick. YUCK!

    ReplyDelete
  4. Too much foundation where it looks like one is wearing cake batter/paste....au naturale is soo much better for your skin and for visual beauty!

Made me laugh with the reminder of shaved eyebrows and then re-drawn! :)

    ReplyDelete
  5. All of the ones you listed are my pet peeves! I am obsessed with having perfectly separated lashes of my own, so tarantula lashes are a big no-no! :) I also hate it when some people have a bronzer overload moment and end up with a really messy and unnatural look..with a white neck!

    Cute post topic! :)

  6. I hate seeing people in dark lipliner and nude lipstick - or frosty pink - it looks ridiculous. Although I must admit I used to do it myself when I was about 13. But I WAS 13!! What excuse do the other people have!!

    xx

  7. oooo soo many...and yours are soo good!!! I really hate when people use the wrong color foundation, especially when it's not blended at the top so you can see the color line at the hairline. And when people wear such a ridiculous amount of bronzer that you know there's no way that it could be a natural tan - the key is sunkissed, not sunburned!

  8. Clumpy eyelashes and seeing girls foundation lines. I too wear liquid eyeliner {MAC} it's the BEST :)-

  9. pretty much all my pet peeves. I have a bit of an issue with mascara. It makes my eyelashes look bad(I don't mean to brag, but I have good eyelashes, most people think I am wearing mascara when I'm not), which is why it is so weird that I always seem to get free mascaras...
Another make up peeve is girls wearing heavy make up to concerts where its hot and sweaty and the have make up running down their face.
and make up that makes girls faces all shiny

  10. hey lady :D

i hate it when you can see a foundation line... blend that stuff!

  11. I can't stand clumpy mascara. It looks so awful.

  12. Im very simple with my makeup, so I hate flashy neon colors like yellow, orange, etc... xxxoxooo

    ReplyDelete
  13. oh mascara troubles, clumps are my worst enemy!! not only do they look bad but they just feel awful and weight me entire eyelids down it seems! at least it's summer and i dont feel the need to cake myself up as much until evening activities :D

    ReplyDelete
  14. cakey foundation..... there are ways to make it not that bad.. so its totally unnecessary!!!

oh and mascara clumps suck horribly!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Um, all of the above? I really, really hate drawn on eyebrows though. It is never a good look. I also agree with some of the above comments about bronzer overload. Too much just makes you look dirty.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Oh yes... clumpy mascara is one for me - they make eyelash combs for that reason! And too much makeup in general... makeup should enhance our natural beauty, not be a mask to hide behind! We're all gorgeous!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I hate too much makeup that just looks caked on. I like the more subtle, natural look that looks like you're not even wearing any makeup!

  18. I hate it when people wear foundation that is too dark and then they walk around with a line on their chin because they think no one will notice.

    ReplyDelete
  19. My biggest pet peeve with make up is when the foundation isn't blended around the jaw line and you can see where their foundation ends and their true skin color starts. How can they not see that?!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'm using brown and black mascaras by Helena Rubinstein, and it's a PERFECT! Almost as Lancome!

  21. Cakey foundation and foundation that's the wrong color drives me craaaaazy!!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Sometimes when doing my makeup I get a bit carried away and if it even looks slighty cakey in any little way I have to wash my face and start all over. Last thing I want is to feel and look like I have cakey makeup on all day! YUCK! I'm a makeup addict, is there a makeup anonymous group to join?! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  23. GLITTER EYE SHADOW!!!

I did this as a dancer when I was younger - it was called stage makeup, not to be confused with everyday makeup!

    ReplyDelete
  24. hahaha!!! you have listed all of the bad make-up issues! bah! i try not to be guilty of them!

    ReplyDelete
  25. omg Drollgirl and I worked with a lady whose mascara was this every day. ...but I hate too much cakey foundation ...and/or ORANGE face ..which sadly has happened to me. lol

    ReplyDelete
  26. Dark lipliner/light lipstick and orange foundation. It's a tie!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Shaved/drawn on eyebrows are so creeeeepy! *Shudder*

    ReplyDelete
  28. on top of the ones you listed, i cannot STAND when people apply make-up every 5-10 minutes. it's not like it's falling off their cake faces. blehhhh!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I hate the clumpy mascara. ( of course when it happens to me! )

    ReplyDelete
  30. Glitter, orange faces, shaved/drawn eyebrows, and the lip liner that's BROWN, with practically skin color lipstick. *GAG*!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Eeek how annoying, I am always in awe of women with flawless make up, it must take some serious skill! Eww and I am definitely not a fan of those thin pencil eyebrows. In fact women with those tend to scare me a little lol.

    ReplyDelete
  32. oh man i don't wear foundation but i wear MAC powder and currently looking to switch to dior as MAC is starting to make my face do things i cannot handle!!

  34. that picture that you posted IS my makeup pet peeve..ugh, yuck! also, when you can see the dreaded foundation line!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Cakey foundation (less is more), pencil thin eyebrows and crazy lipliner that doesn't blend into the lipstick/gloss.

And hubby doesn't like "raccoon eyes"...I constantly have to hear about it whenever he spots it on someone so now it bugs me *ever so slightly* as well :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. hey there! i saw you on brooke's website and thought i'd peek over! great blog!! and i have to confess i know very little about make up myself but i can't stand seeing foundation lines!! oh it drives me nuts!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Haha- I hate mascara/eyeliner that smudges around the bottom of hte eyes. Which seems to happen to me often. Ugh!

    ReplyDelete
  38. No make up pet peeves for me because thankfully, i dont wear any.

    : )

    ReplyDelete
  39. see: aforementioned lack of makeup skills. But I did get an awesome tip to use a Q-tip to blend in eyeliner.

It works out pretty well. :)

  40. how do you think of the neatest posts? you must have ideas swarming in that beautiful head of yours! i agree with the eye liner.. i hate when mines uneven.. honestly most times i apply it i end up doing it once..then removing it and doing it again! another pet peeve of mine is really bright eyeliners..like bright green or bright blue...i duno just me! and your last comment made my morning! i woke up and saw Iva and smiled so huge and after i read it i just sighed and thought i just love her! i wish she lived closer! josh is wonderful :) and that's actually not my real mom! hehe, shes my 2nd mama but i will have to post some up to dates of my real madre..she is just beautiful you will love her! alright enough blabbering from me :) love you lots doll and have a wonderful day! xoxo

    ReplyDelete
  41. I hate it when my eyeshadow just looks dull or cakey..not light and powdery. I always see other looking great but am always disapointed in my eyeshadow!

    ReplyDelete
  42. ...I switch foundation color- one for winter & the other for summer. I've seen too many ladies that have different tones on their face & also ignore the neck zipcodes! ~XO*

    ReplyDelete
  43. All of the above - yes! I think my absolute peeve has to be tarantula eyes. Blech!

I don't have the eyeliner problem anymore because I got mine tattooed on. You bet your ass it hurt, but it was soooo worth it. I was majorly liner challenged, but I couldn't get away without because I am pale. Now it looks great all the time!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Mascara that says "clump-free" and then globs all over. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good waterproof mascara that actually stays on when it gets wet?

    ReplyDelete
  45. clumpy mascara for the win!! If my lashes end up clumpy I much rather go without mascara!! (: love you! ps: I know, DARN that ocean! xx

    ReplyDelete
  46. i think mine would be cakey foundation that's the wrong shade, nothing makes a face look more unnatural than that.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I love when I can follow the cracks in a person's face because their foundation is THAT poorly applied. Na-sty.

    ReplyDelete
  48. oh definitely caked on foundation . i mean how does that happen?? and shaved and drawn in eyebrows. what the heck. not ok.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Finding the right color! I have no idea what lipstick I should buy. Everything I get is totally wrong!

    ReplyDelete
  50. lip liners, too much gloss, too much bronzer , heavy eye make up, or no make up at all (and you have a bad skin!)

    ReplyDelete
  51. never had a problem with shaved eyebrows (yikes). i'd say i have trouble keeping my eyelashes curled. they're really straight and i use a little eyelash curler but they still stay straight. grrrrr.

    ReplyDelete
  52. You know, I'm probably one of the last on the planet who doesn't wear makeup!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I don't like seeing the line from the foundation. No eye brows and then people pencil them in.

Now that being said, I don't really where makeup because I am not good at putting it on. I like that good gene.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Ditto what Blondie said.
Im not good at applying it! :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. i cannot do the liquid liner. i ALWAYS get it in my eyes which of course is followed my the touching and smearing of it everywhere!! oh i dooo love the brown lip liner with some nude lipstick. it screams klassy! the fake mole is also absolutely ridiculous (and made with makeup so it counts!)!!

ugh i've misssed you guys! i just caught up on your posts, i've been such a sucky blogger lately!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Not so much a makeup issue as a people-issue.... people who wear "natural" makeup (ie - they claim they put on makeup but you can't see it, therefore the natural, made-up look) and then want to proselytize you in to doing the same when you are a hard-eyeliner-loving person. Peeve.

    ReplyDelete
  57. YES!! ALL of those are pet peeves!!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. i'm going to have to agree with all the ones you listed. i hate all of those things and know people personally who have and still do those things. ugh! i feel bad for them. lol.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I don't know if this fits into make up but I can't STAND too much self tanner or a too tanned face.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Such a great topic! I hate all of the above - mostly the mascara one though!

    ReplyDelete
  61. I get so frustrated when I spend time doing my eye makeup to have it run down my face. In particular, when it's hot & moist out, my eye liner does not stay put!! On other people it frustrates me to see a neck/face line from mismatched face to foundation...it's almost as bad as a VPL!!!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Mine's gotta be overdone concealer. Some people just have a perpetual white mask around their eyes! And.. mascara stains on the eyelids if not applied cleanly!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Great blog post! What seems to be black/dark eyeliner as a lip liner is my #1 pet peeve in makeup. Also blush/foundation not blended in well. The orange face/skin-fad from poor quality or incorrect tone fake tanner is another biggie!

    ReplyDelete
  64. I'd have to say shaved eyebrows only to be drawn back on is one I would stay away from. Natural enhancement is by far the best way to go about your beauty traits.

    xoxo,

    Jessica

  65. Laughing out loud! I am just like YOU! It has to be symmetrical otherwise I get so annoyed! I also hate the tarantula eyes with a passion! :) XOXO

    ReplyDelete
  66. i have so many....the tarantula eyes, too much lipgloss.....heavy eyemakeup in the day.....but my beiggest pet-peeve has to be too much bronzer or fake-tan...nothing beats that!

    ReplyDelete
  67. URGHHHH CLUMPY MASCARA DAMN YHU! Lol and my top liner flicks never come out symmetrical :(

    ReplyDelete
  68. This mascara is a staple in makeup bag and used more then a few times a week. Its make looking good eyes and natural olive in mascara. The brush is a mix of very short and long bristles, making application a breeze while lashes are coated and use is very easily. My eyes are much felt better of this used mascara. Thanks for sharing with us.

    best natural mascara
