The Uniform Project: Little Black Dress

You know that little black dress you have that is always your for sure 'go to' piece when in a rush? Imaging wearing it everyday. For a whole year. 365 days straight. The little black dress might start to loose its appeal after awhile. But, what if you were doing it for a cause. That is exactly what Sheena Matheiken is doing: The Uniform Project. Her friend, Eliza Starbuck, designed the simple black button-front dress. Sheena wears it everyday, layering and accessorizing each day to create a completely new outfit.

Every day she posts her picture and readers vote on the outfit. The Uniform Project is a year long fundraiser for education in India, with all contributions going towards funding uniforms for children. Previously there was The Little Brown Dress, although, not dedicated toward a charitable project.

Which ONE piece would you choose to wear 365 days straight?
&
Which cause/charity would you dedicate it to?

40 Fabulous People:

  1. I so don't have that much fashion sense to put together 365 DIFFERENT outfits with one of the same pieces. If I DID then I would do it for the Humane Society.

Love the picture on your sidebar btw! You're gorgeous!!

  5. wow what a neat idea. i'd love to see her outfits. if it was for 365 days i'd have to wear my seven jeans.. boring, yes a little but i just love them and you can always find cute ways to dress them up or down!

  6. I think that is a cool idea, I would do it for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. I not sure which one I like personally I would pick something a little more girlie. I am not very good with fashion.

  14. Oh man I'm definitely not fashionably inclined enough to be that creative. That's a really cool idea. I'm with chicamom, probably my favorite pair of jeans! Though in the summer they'd have to become cutoffs ;-)

  15. Wanna know something crazy?? I don't own a little black dress! The horror, I know! ;) I'm not sure why I don't... I have sundresses, skirts, a cute blue dress, but no LBD. B-U-T, I do own a FAB vintage 1950's black and white cocktail dress that wear if I need to dress up fancy (which isn't very often). I LUV it and feel very fabulous when I wear it, so I don't feel like I'm lacking without an LBD :)

I'm not sure if I'm creative enough to come up with 365 different outfits with one piece, but the idea is intriguing... hmm, what would I wear everyday for a year?? Maybe my fave pair of Guess jeans... or my patent blue ballet flats...

  16. What an amazing project! That definitely would test your creative skills to the max. If I had to, I'd go with something like...a grey v-neck sweater. Versatile but still tricky for 365 days! Charity wise, perhaps for starting an orphanage in India? Oh and I added you to the project list dear, could I possibly get your city for the list?
