I can not diet. Just cannot. The moment 'diet' even comes into my train of thought, whatever food I am telling myself I have to avoid, that is exactly what I desperately need at that exact moment. No chocolate. Yeah, sure, right, ok! Give me that entire jar of
Nutella RIGHT NOW! Iva, you will not eat a single Gummi Bear for the next month, it's sugar detox time. You got it! Ha! I am so off to Costco to buy the absolute largest Gummi Bear package there is...times 3. And so, with this my friends, I do not diet. I find that enjoying quality rich meals is key. I love to read books on
nutrition, and watch the
Food Network channel, simultaneously.
Do you have a favorite Food Network Chef?

Giada De Laurentiis

Tyler Florence

Alton Brown
And now Rachel Ray...

I feel like people either
love her or
loath her. What's your stance on her?
Have a 'go to' book?

I also hate diets and I HATE Rachel Ray. I like Michael Simon, Guy Fieri, Duff from Ace of Cakes, Bobby Flay.
ReplyDeleteAnne
whenever the ina garten.. is that her name? comes on i just love to watch her! and the italian girl!! i lovet his post haha i usually alwyas have food network on in the background. oh and the neelys. they're great too :) and ace of cakes! ahh so many to choose from!? oh and when did rachel ray get super skinny!? skinny enough for a magazine cover half nude..mm don't know wabout that one! love u!
ReplyDeleteThat post is hilarious, i'm EXACTLY the same... last night i was telling my roomie how i wasn't eating chocolate for the next week and ended up buying a king size block haha! I've not heard of that you being beautiful book, my mum bought me one about eating properly maybe called you on a diet? i can't remember, it's still in the pantry with my recipe books xxx
ReplyDeletei do the same thing!!! no more ice cream for you! wait! there is a pint of peanut butter chocolate haagan daaz (sp?!?!?) in the freezer! OKAY! i'll eat the whole thing!!!
ReplyDeletei don't watch much cooking on tv, but maybe i should?!??! i find that it makes me think of food even more than i already do, which is CONSTANTLY. i love food too much, and it shows.
I hear you...i really do! Diets for me are nonexistant. I eat what i want, when i want.
ReplyDeleteI hear you! Diets make me break out in hives. As soon as I feel like I can't eat something I rebel. I am finding that focusing on being healthy is a better way for me to go.
ReplyDeleteI really like Curtis Stone from Take Home Chef but I am pretty sure thats just because he is smokin' hot....:)
I can not even think of the word because I start overeating just in case...not fan of Rachel Ray at all!!! My fav are Nigella, Victoria Amory and love some recipes from skinny bitch and French woman are thin (or something like that!)
ReplyDeleteif they even exist in my life, i try to do "lifestyle changes". i read skinny bitch and i think it brainwashed me - don't watch too much of the food network people though.
ReplyDeleteRachel Ray is cool until she says "E.V.O.O." and then adds "extra virgin olive oil"...kinda defeats the purpose of the acronym. I LOVE Alton Brown....the science part is so fun :) ps- diets blow. I would rather eat whatever I want and workout more!!!
ReplyDeleteOMG! LOL! Carlie! I always wonder why she does that too!! LOL haha
ReplyDelete<3
One word: exercise!
ReplyDeleteI DIDN'T KNOW RACHEL RAY WAS SO SEXY, SHE ALWAYS SEEMS CONSERVATIVE ON HER SHOW.
Mmmm Nutella! And where were you?? I made a ton of guacamole, we couldn't even eat it all! :)
ReplyDeleteI love Ina Garten, although sometimes I cook more like Paula Deen.
Oh no, Iva. You're making me hungry! I'm actually a pretty good dieter. It helps to live alone and not have anything in your refrigerator though! Whoa, I was impressed with that Rachel Ray pic though..maybe I won't get a snack.
ReplyDeleteI never claimed to be anything other than silly... oh, and diets suck, life is all about balance. I can deal with Rachel Ray if the sound is off, but I REALLY like the butter lady...what's her name, Paula Deen or something? The southern lady who adds about twelve sticks of butter to each recipe and then drizzles more butter on top...
ReplyDeleteYUM.
That picture of Rachel Ray is SO DISTURBING omg! haha!! She bugs me. BUT I will take a Tyler Florence and a Bobby Flay to go, please.
ReplyDeleteAnd I like Giada's hair and how she randomly gets an Italian accent on only some words.
SKINNY BITCH! It's my bible. I just don't do the entire VEGAN thing, so it's kind of a problem. Let us pray. hahaha I need to stop with this comment.
I love you!!!
I'm so with you! Just found your blog and am really digging it! :)
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if Skinny Bitch was any good. I LOVE nutella!!!!!! Yummy! I am with you, diet...what's that? I wouldn't last five seconds.
ReplyDeleteI can not and will not diet... right there with you! Watching Giada makes me hungry every time, I adore Paula Deen, I would love to grill with Bobby Flay, and my newest favorite is Simply Delicioso with Ingrid Hoffmann. Good topic! And now I'm hungry.
ReplyDeleteI have never watched Rachael Ray, but I think she's fun and spunky!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the Eat This Not That book. It was so interesting to read!!
I can't diet either. I'm not good at it because, like you, if I tell myself I can't have something I crave it more. So I stick with the everything in moderation stance. Now I might be a little curvier but at least I'm not depriving myself of anything. That's what works for me :)
Fun post!
OMG I can TOTALLY relate to everything you said in this post, it's crazy.. I guess its just a "mind over matter" thing.. I always tell myself to not think about it but its so hard! All I want to do is eat chocolate covered gummi bears all day long!
ReplyDeleteok...I have jumped ship from loving Giada last year to loving Ina this year. She's so authentic, down to earth, easy to listen to, relaxed & sweet. She puts so much heart into her cooking and there isn't a recipe I have tried of Ina's that I don't LOVE! I joined Weight Watchers last November and lost two pounds in 6 months. Then I quit, stopped eating white sugar and white flour, started eating lots of fruits, veggies and whold grains and have lost 12 pounds over the past 3 months. To each her own!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! I hope you don't mind, I became a follower :) haha
ReplyDeleteI'm originally from Livermore, but I live near Santa Rosa now. What part of the bay area are you from?
ttyl :)
THAT is Rachel Ray? What? What is she doing in the photo? She was probably photoshopped to all heck. Anyways-her voice kinda gets on my nerves now and then...I saw Rachel Ray last Christmas at a booksigning at Williams Sonoma...and NO-she did not look like THAT! LOL! My favorite is Barefoot Contessa and I want her garden so bad! I cannot diet either-it's just not an option!
ReplyDeleteDiet...what? I am a pretty picky water so I can't really limit anything. Well I could cut out that glass of wine I have but what fun would that be.
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of Rachel Ray and don't really watch much food network. I have just within the last year started to enjoy cooking. It wasn't something I was very good at.
Is there food types that you limit such as carbs?
ha! i HATE diets. i don't believe in them. :) my philosophy is simple. i eat ANYTHING i want in moderation. i walk/jog 3 miles a day 5-6 days a week. i eat what i want to, i just cut my portion in half, and sometimes in thirds. the minute i tell myself i can't have something, i become obsessed to get my hands on it. in the words of marie antionette~ "let them eat cake!" and i do. ;)
ReplyDeletei don't watch the food network, but loooove to cook. i'm on the fence with rachel ray. some days i like her and other days i don't care to watch her. i do really like giada though!
ha im the same with "diets." i'll eat real healthy during the day, but will gorge on whatever i'm avoiding right before bed. so yea- i gain weight whenever i diet.
ReplyDeletelove giada and alton. and i LOVE the skinny bitch books. the recipe book is actually pretty good.
I don't really know that much about the health people out there, I suppose I should. I've heard about Rachel Ray but don't know that much about her. I try to eat healthy just bc it is easy for me to put on the lbs, but it's super hard and I love gummy bears oh so much! Girl, if I was around you we would both be in so much trouble! Lol!
ReplyDeleteI love Giada and Tyler both. I used to like Rachael, now I'm not so sure.
ReplyDeleteI have ALL the "you" books. Love them!
I'm with you - I cannot diet at all!
bobby flay. i love red heads, what can i say? and i must love man boobs too. wait, no i don't. not a big fan of RR when she opens her mouth. cute show kitchen though. hahah! i do love skinny bitch. i was a vegetarian for over a year after that book then my OB told me to eat meat. eat this not that is good too. mom likes eat right for your blood type.
ReplyDeletexo
I don't get food network (another insult to my life by not having cable) but I do love RR! I'm with you on the restrictions. If I tell myself I can't have something, I immediately want it MORE THAN ANYTHING. So, I've just stopped doing that :) COSTCO is a very dangerous place...
ReplyDeleteI don't diet either! I just can't for some reason. My body doesn't let me..and like you I end up eating even MORE when I try to (: I know nothing of those american celebrity chefs since they don't really air those shows back home in Singapore and I don't have a tv here in England. But i know rachel ray! and it's weird seeing her pose like that with the chocolate. very strange indeed. Ian agrees! haha (: xx
ReplyDeleteDiet, what diet?
ReplyDeletePrefer to exercise and eat in moderation.
Oh big fan of Dr Oz, want book!
Lovely blog.
Absolutely - Skinny Bitch!
ReplyDeleteFM~FP~AF
I just want that Nutella right now!!!
ReplyDeleteYour mind says no but you say yes...how can you fight it?
good point?
bad point?
Good night!
I'm probably the only person on earth that hates nutella!!!
ReplyDeletehahaha I know I'm the only one, I hate nutella honey tomatoes and pizza..great for an italian!!
ReplyDeleteYeah i feel the dame way as you! I am totally into nutrition but I hate to follow diets! I will watch the foodnetwork and read health books/magazines at the same time! I am a huge fan of cooking light! As for my fav foodnetwork stars...well I like most of them! Love Giada, tyler, bobby, rachel, robin, and paula (yeah i'm on a first name basis)! I try not to over-indulge but there are something I can't resist!
ReplyDeleteI love great food! Everything is in balance....
ReplyDeleteLove Rachael Ray and unfortunately my hubby does too!
ReplyDeletenutella and i are great friends :D

awww, I'm sorry u feel sick! This sucks...
ReplyDeleteQuick question about your post: that "beautiful you"
Book you mentioned, is it good?
xoxo
Haha!! I'm exactly the same! The minute I say "Sarah!! Healthy! Now!" is the minute I go haywire ;)
ReplyDeleteLuckily food in japan is pretty great. Back home in south Africa it's easy to be junky
that picture of Rachael Ray is SCARY. I love Giada.
ReplyDeletethanks for stopping by my blog. I love yours and am now a follower! cheers. Michelle
lipstickrules.blogspot.com
i cant diet either! it just seems like torture haha, but its not like YOU would ever need to anyways miss fitness :D
ReplyDeletei am also obsessed with the Food Network, but my boyf hates that i always watch it because it makes him hungry 24/7 haha. my fave is alton brown though - food AND science?! crazy amazing. and the "Eat This Not That" book is so addicting, i like that it's specifically a health book rather than a strictly dieting book :)
Hullo! I'm following you now:) I love nutella. I heard it's cheaper in Europe so I'm going to get myself the huuuuugest one when I'm in France. Gummi bears remind me of the children's cartoon "gummi bears!! bouncing here and there and everwhere!". heh.. i used to want to be a gummi bear!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, don't feel too bad about your secret stash! I just wiped out probably 10 bars of snickers and mars, 10 scones and some other things in the past 4 days or so. mind over matter! diet! :)
I LOVE the Skinny Bitch book and cookbook. I'm also a big believer that the quality of foods you eat are more important than the types (carbs, sugars, etc.) Plus, everything in moderation!
ReplyDeleteLOVE Giada, don't know Tyler but good lord he's HOT, get a kick out of Alton and am indifferent to Rachel (altho that pic is hilarious!).
ReplyDeleteI don't have a go-to nutrition book, but I read a lot of articles online, in magazines, and I've take several college nutrition courses, so I've got some mad skills at this point ;)
I think I have a healthy relationship with food for the most part. I have to eat all the time because of my dancing, so not eating is not an option. If I indulge a Wendy's craving, I don't feel guilty because I don't do it regularly. My sweet tooth is another story, though, and I'm really trying to get that under control...
OMG! I love Nutella. YUM! And I might have to hate you for getting me thinking about it. :) It is really good on strawberries.
ReplyDeleteThis is so true. The healthier I try to be, the more I want junk.
ReplyDeletexx
whoa, i've never seen rachel ray in any sort of provocative anything. kudos for her (i still don't like her though).
ReplyDeleteI hate hate hate Rachel Ray... mark one in the loath column haha
ReplyDeleteDon't hate her but hate some of her sayings, i.e. yummo and sammies. Left you something on our blog!!
ReplyDeleteI seriously have the food network on all the time...I try to do a new recipe every sunday evening so it is great inspiration!
ReplyDeletepaula deen is my girl!
ReplyDeleteand i love giada.
we just went to paula's restaurant in savannah it was awesome!
Giada De Laurentiis all the way! Amazing. Great Blog! :o)
