How many "studies" does it really take to keep confirming that to be successful, contributing, healthy, members of society we need 8 hours of sleep? Not 4,5,6, nor 7, but 8. Study number 10 gazillion has yet again found this to be true. If we sleep less then 8 hours on any night of the week, we have gone into 'sleep debt'. The article is so kind to even give us a 'snooze strategy'. It scientifically explains that we should go to bed earlier and not set the alarm for the following morning. Ah. Yes. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! There is absolutely NO WAY I would have thought of that on my own. If only they would have been so generous to supply a housekeeper, 6 nannies, a wet nurse, 3 chefs, 14 personal assistants, a chauffeur, a personal trainer who can work out their own body and it effect mine without me ever having to break a sweat or contract a muscle, and a catheter then, yes of course, I will get to bed at 9pm every night. I will soundly sleep 8 hours straight without ever even getting up to pee in the middle of the night. I would really appreciate it if studies would consider the contributing factors to why people don't sleep eight hours. Nobody gets paid to sleep. There are bills to pay, mouths to feed, jobs to get to, functions to attend, households to be run, exams to cram for, etc. We don't willingly torture ourselves, by functioning on 5 hours of restless sleep. We don't believe that bags under our eyes are the new fashion statement. We also don't spend all our money at Starbucks because we believe it helps us sleep better.

Bags aren't the new fashion statement?!? Dammit! :) lol
ReplyDeleteSorry Lil' Woman I haven't seen them being advertised too much LOL :)
ReplyDeleteOh no!
ReplyDeleteI'm in sleep debt every night then!
Oops!!
i especially enjoy the articles which recommend naps. who wouldn't love a restful hour during the middle of the day? unfortunately, not everyone is able to shut their lives down at noon for an hour (then again at 9 to go to sleep) because there's only a billion things to do in a day and only 24 hours to get them done in.
ReplyDeletemaybe if we made the day longer, we could all nap and still manage to sleep for 8 hours!
Cannot agree enough!
ReplyDeletei have bag under my eyes too, plus I just never get a full eight hour sleep let alone seven. Parents are amazing to me because we stay up and put our kids first with no complaints..ok not too many complaints but it is worth it.
