I've spoken about my name before. But, today I was checking out this article titled "How Sexy Is Your Name?". {I know, I know, Iva, you read too much}. In any case, I stared to laugh a bit, because I remembered, how, when I was in the 2nd grade I would have given anything to change my name, preferably to something that began with an "L". All the mispronouncing of my name had really started to build on me. Today, I love my name. I love that its short, I love that it starts with an I, and I love that its uncommon. There is no other name that suites me. I feel I even look like an "Iva". So, how do you feel about your name, and if you could have named yourself, what would you have picked? Or, maybe your name is just perfect.

Lol..I love my name too...when I was little it used to bother me with the "poison ivy" comparison and people would always want to call me ivory (wtf?) but anyways my name used to serena (thats what my dad named me) but then my mom changed it back to Ivy : )

i love your name! i actually love my name too. summer is much more common these days. remember, i am (newly) 32 so i was the only summer for awhile. plus my middle name is athena and you know my maiden name from my email. ;) i love my mom and dad for this. and i think my name fits me perfectly.
ReplyDeleteBUT...i get to high school and learn that there is a girl in the class below me that is ALSO named Summer B. SAME LAST NAME. her middle name was Lynn. apparently, when my parents put the announcement in the newspaper, this girls mother liked it so much, she decided to outright copy it! ugh!
oh well...my middle name was cooler than hers! hahahah!
I love my name! Except for the one time a guy told me it's a stripper name. Other than that, it's great :-)

ReplyDeleteSo my name's not too horrible, Theresa; but it's not a sexy sounding "a" ending name at all! The only thing that makes my name awful is that it's my mother's name as well, and my grandmother's. Rediculous. So until I get married, I have the EXACT same name as my mother. Oh, and I work for my parents, so that just makes me have no individual identity. At all. It also obligates me to continue this naming madness, which I'm not so fond of. Hopefully I have boys!

ReplyDeleteMY name is a family name, so I love it. There are so many variations I am called-Liz, Lizzy, Elly, so that's fun too.

I use to hate my name! I was teased when I was little thanks to a Chia pets. Stupid plants..lol but now I love my name but still don't like chia pets..
